Investigations

From time to time,  employers find themselves in the position of having to carry out an internal investigation. This might be due to a grievance or disciplinary matter, or some other dispute such as a potential whistleblowing case, and it may involve senior management or directors. Sometimes, the employer is too small to have someone available to do this, or, in a larger organisation, perhaps the subject of the investigation is themselves the manager or a director, so an independent hand is required. 

Alternatively, any size organisation may simply choose to have a totally independent investigator. This can be a sound policy to avoid accusations of conflicts of interest. 

​It is crucial that investigations are handled impartially, and that evidence is collected and assessed in a manner that will not prejudice any outcome. Our conclusions are based on the balance of evidence available.
